Richard Galliano Quartet New DOUBLE Album Release On Your Desk “New Jazz Muzette” In his 30 year career, Galliano has successfully revamped the image of the accordian, an instrument considered passé, and now takes his inspiration  for his new double album from his musical idols: Piazzolla, Coltrane, Bill Evans and Debussy   Richard Galliano has decided to celebrate his 30 years in music together with some talented friends – Sylvain Luc on guitar, Philippe Aerts on acoustic bass and Andre Ceccarelli on drums. His new double album, “New Jazz Musette”, is releasing on February 17th, 2017, on the Ponderosa label, out of Milan, and features a selection of his favorite compositions. In fact, it has been thirty years since the release of his first album, “Spleen”, when he was the leader of the “New Musette Quartet”. “Following in the footsteps of Astor Piazzolla, who invented the New Tango, today I am re-creating the “New Musette”, says Galliano, because I think that this music cannot be played the way it was played in the ‘30s. When I play these tunes now, I take my inspiration from my musical idols: Piazzolla, Coltrane, Bill Evans and Debussy.” “Musette” is a traditional Italo-French form, popular music. Like the blues in the United States and the tango in Argentina, it surfaced at the same time, in the first decades of the twentieth century. All three are the fruit of a social and cultural fusion: Italian and French musicians for musette, Italians and Argentines for the tango, Africans and Americans for the blues. Immigrants far from their homelands created new musical forms, combining tradition and melancholy: that’s how it was for the blues in the US, and for the milonga in Argentina. The same thing happened in France, on the forgotten outskirts of the big cities. And the “New Jazz Muzette” proudly joins the folds.   Visit Richard Galliano on Facebook...

Helen Jane Long’s U.S. Tour Behind 4th Release “Identity” Helen Jane Long is an award-winning film composer whose musicology brings indie culture to classical and soundtrack music. This one-time Warner Bros. composer left it all behind to create her own record label, publishing company and destiny. Her signature sound is cinematic classical and she’s kicking and dragging it into the future with her stunning fourth release, “Identity”. In 2006, Helen was discovered and signed a contract with Warner Classics who released her first album, Porcelain, the following year. It went on to critical acclaim in England and the U.S. Not one to thrive in a corporate environment, Helen walked away from her contract with Warner in order to pursue her own musical visions and released her second album, Embers, independently on her own BLE Records. The album rapidly climbed the charts to become the most requested album on London’s national Classic FM radio, and in 2011, earned Helen the honor of being the only female composer in the Classic FM Hall of Fame. By the time she released her third album, Intervention, in 2012, Helen had composed music for ten feature and short films, seven commercials, and eleven documentary films including scores for films by iconic American director Louis Schwartzberg and Batkid, a documentary by The Make A Wish Foundation. Her latest album, Identity, marks yet another shift in her composing career as it found its place on the Billboard Chart at #9 on the first week of release. Composed over the course of a year, Identity  marks a move toward a bigger sound as she embraces the full richness of soundtrack composition folded into her uniquely intimate melodies. Helen will be joined by her string section, The London Players, for her U.S. tour dates. Helen Jane Long “Identity” U.S. Tour: Nov 10 New Orleans / Marigny Opera House Nov 11 Philadelphia / Make Films Studios Nov 14 Chicago / Pianoforte Foundation Nov 16 San Francisco / Herbst Theatre Your ticket purchase to the SF show includes a cd copy of Helen Jane Long’s new album “Identity”, redeemable after the show with your ticket stub, at Amoeba Music, 1855 Haight St, San Francisco. Ludovico Einaudi’s U.S. Tour Behind “Elements” Album   Italian composer/pianist Ludovico Einaudi has evolved into one of the most successful musicians in the world. Upon its debut, his latest album, “Elements” topped classical charts in 42 countries across the globe.  In the United Kingdom it soared into the nation’s mainstream album chart at #12, the first time in over a generation that a classical artist achieved such heights. The Guardian points out that if you haven’t heard his music, “then it’s probably because you don’t know it’s by Ludovico Einaudi”.  His compositions have formed the soundtrack of film and TV productions including The Intouchables and the Black Swan working with a diverse range of directors from acclaimed Canadian Xavier Dolan to Oscar winner Clint Eastwood.  Brands such as NIKE and American Airlines have seamlessly sync’d his works in their advertising campaigns. Einaudi’s unique contemporary musical style, informed by minimalist, ambient, world and rock musics, has defied...

Ludovico Einaudi’s New Album “Elements”

Posted by on Sep 28, 2015 in Blog, Newsletter | Comments Off on Ludovico Einaudi’s New Album “Elements”

Ludovico Einaudi’s  New Album “Elements” Alt-classical composer/pianist Ludovico Einaudi – whose unique musical style is renowned around the world – returns with a brand new album ‘Elements’, which will be released on 16th October on the Ponderosa Music & Art label.  “Elements springs from a desire to start anew, following a different path of consciousness”, Einaudi reveals.  This latest album brings together a musical alchemy that draws on elements of electronicam, world, rock and  classical music – reflecting  Einaudi’s unique position on the international music scene. Einaudi has quietly become one of the most successful musicians on the planet.  His hauntingly beautiful and evocative music tops the classical charts worldwide, and he has sold  millions of records.  He is the most streamed classical artist in the UK with over 130 million streams and remains the #4 most synched composer in the world. ‘Elements’ was recorded this year at Einaudi’s Italian home in the Langhe countryside – he describes it as “a unique experience, accompanied by the pulsing rhythms of an explosive spring.” Comprised of 12 tracks, the album interweaves piano, strings, percussion, guitar and electronic instruments.  It is inspired by the world around us: nature’s elements, mathematical and scientific elements, musical forms and works of art including those by Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee and Gustav Klimt. This album brings these seemingly disparate elements together into one concept. Einaudi explains: “I saw new frontiers – on the edge between what I knew and what I didn’t know – that I had long wanted to explore: creation myths, the periodic table, Euclid’s geometry, Kandinsky’s writings,  the matter of sound, and of colour, the stems of wild grass in a meadow, the shapes of the landscape. For months I wandered in a seemingly chaotic mix of images, thoughts and feelings. Then, gradually, everything came together in a dance, as if all the elements were parts of the same world, and myself within it.” Einaudi created the album’s cover artwork himself – drawing a variety of different symbols and illustrations, which combine to stunning effect.  This ties in with Einaudi’s concept for the recording: “If it wasn’t music, it would be a map of thoughts: sometimes clear and distinct, sometimes overlapped: points, lines, shapes, fragments of an ongoing interior flow.” Einaudi’s music has been heard by millions worldwide – especially through adverts, trailers, film scores and TV soundtracks.  He has provided music for more than 20 films, the most recent including ‘The Water Diviner’ (directed by and starring Russell Crowe) and Ricky Gervais’ TV series ‘Derek’. Einaudi has performed to sell out crowds at venues around the world including Blenheim Palace, Hammersmith Apollo, Barbican and headlining the iTunes festival at the Roundhouse. Einaudi has drawn together an incredible group of musicians for the new album – ‘Ludovico’s band’ includes Francesco Arcuri, Marco Decimo, Mauro Durante, Alberto Fabris, Federico Mecozzi and Redi Hasa.  It also features the Dutch string ensemble Amsterdam Sinfonietta, the Berlin electronic musician Robert Lippok, the percussionists of the Parco della Musica of Rome, the Brazilian percussionist Mauro Refosco and acclaimed violinist Daniel Hope, who plays on the opening song,...
