Helen Jane Long releases her new album “Perspective” on Feb 11, 2018

Helen Jane Long  is a British award-winning film composer, a classically trained pianist and multi instrumentalist. Signed to Warner Classics in 2006, she released her first album, Porcelain, the following year. It went on to become one of the best-selling albums in the genre. In 2010 she followed her instincts and set up her own BLE Record Label and Publishing company, releasing 6 albums to date including Embers, Intervention, Identity, Live At St. James and the new album “Perspective”, releasing on February 11, 2018.

Perspective is  a field of study, a frame of mind and the new album by Helen Jane Long that was brought on by life factors, changing times and attitudes. In Helen’s words:

It’s about perspective….on life.   We look at it differently, even in the artwork of the album, the piano is sunken, broken, the fight between nature and nurture, trees against human built piano, a house, with lights, yet a crazy lake held up by nothing in front, how can this be? what do you see? what does life bring to you, what’s your perspective…. happy, sad, angry, cynic? half full, half empty? Perhaps reframing your perspective is the real key to happiness.”

Helen has found success as an independent label owner, independent publisher and also by composing music  for film and television. Helen Jane Long is associated with brands such as Mercedes, Galaxy Chocolate, Volkswagen Passat, and Bosch. In 2011 British Airways chose her to write the song for their multi-billion dollar “To Fly, To Serve” campaign to re-launch the airline.

The new “Perspective” album is very much an extended format of some of the cues that Helen was creating for a group of films she was composing music for in 2017. These fully realized versions of the cues are full bodied, perfectly balanced and crushingly emotional. The overall feel of the album is positive and upbeat. Or at least that’s the way I heard it. Then again, It’s all about perspective!
