President and Founder

Karen Lee is President and Founder of Evolution Promotion, a full service artist development company, specializing in Radio Promotion, Tour Promotion, Online Press and Marketing, Direct Consumer Marketing, Web Design and Hosting and Consulting in all areas of the music business.

Karen Lee started her music career in Boston at WEA in the early 80's and was quickly hired by the Elektra Records label for a National Promotion position in New York where she worked with a diverse artist roster including The Cars, Motley Crue, Johnny Rotten's PIL, Metallica, 10,000 Maniacs, The Cure, Anita Baker and Howard Jones.

In 1987, Karen was hired by Miles Copeland's I.R.S. Records for National Promotion duties in the Northeast. She was promoted to the Vice President of Promotion position for the I.R.S.label as well as Sting's Pangaea Label, which took her to Los Angeles in 1995. While with the labels, Karen worked with Sting, Cheb Mami, R.E.M., The GoGo's, Concrete Blonde, Jools Holland, The English Beat, Squeeze, Stewart Copeland's Animal Logic, General Public, Fine Young Cannibals, Wall of Voodoo and The Alarm among others.

In 1998, Miles Copeland opened his new and current label, ARK21 Records and installed Karen as his Vice President of Promotion. Later that year, Karen began her own independent promotion company, Evolution Promotion with her business partner, Karen Doran. Evolution's eclectic roster includes Blow Up Hollywood, AIR, Porcupine Tree, Hilary Mcrae, Craig Armstrong, Nathaniel Street West, Jane Siberry, William Orbit, Massive Attack, Mannheim Steamroller. Evolution Promotion handles daily promotion operations for various Major and Independent Record Labels.

In July 2005, Karen founded Online Radio Promotion, a new division of Evolution Promotion. The company distributes and promotes music to licensed online radio stations and other online outlets in all formats.

In late 2007, Karen co-founded a new music publishing company, Winethirty Music. The company is in the process of signing its first artists and composers and aims to become a successful boutique worldwide publishing company.
